Timbis Bali
TIMBIS BEACH,- is located south of the Bali island. The beach is exclusive for fans of paragliding or fly kites in Indonesia. So for those who pursue this hobby either from local or abroad, then they should know Timbis Beach. This beach is located in the Village Kutuh, South Kuta, about 30 km from Denpasar, 15 km from Kuta, or just 7 km from Nusa Dua. This place was introduced by a French businessman, Bernard Fode, who
was also a paragliding instructor in Bali. It started about twenty years ago.

Timbis beach is a great place for Paragliding, since it meets the special requirements so that people wearing parachutes without an engine can took off easily. The main requirement is the contour of the ridge. Certain steepness is needed to deploy the parachute before the person jump into the air. It is certainly different to Sky Diving or parachuting from an airplane. The parachute must be deployed before making a jump, which means the proses is reversed.

Consistent wind blow also used as a consideration for a place to be a paragliding airstrip. In addition, a place for emergency landing should also available. A large field of a beach can serve as emergency landing area. Timbis beach meets all these requirements.

The popularity of Timbis beach reached its peak when hosting the Asian Beach Games, with participants from 42 Asian countries. Paragliding is one of the 18 sports to be cempeted in this event.

Timbis beach located 110 meters above sea level. If the wind blows straight to the south, people can fly in parachutes and head to Uluwatu or Nusa Dua without any diificulties. Flying in Timbis beach brings wonderful experience since you can see the vast blue ocean. Depending on your skill, you can also do some advanced techniques such as 360° loop to feel the G-Force sensation.

If you don't have the basics for paragliding, but curious to try, you can do a tandem with a professional pilot who manage the tourist object. Two of them are Ketut Manda and Bernard Fode. They also give a special price for Indonesian visitor, while the fee for a tandem flight is US$ 50 for foreign tourist. During the flight, you will be in front of the pilot while he controlling the parachute.

The sky view of Timbis beach looks a bit different as you can see beds of seaweed farm. You can also get a closer look to luxurious villas around the area. One thing that one must concern when flying around a temple. Since temple is a sacred place for Hindu followers and it must be built in an open space without any roof or any type of coverings or roofs, so you cannot fly too close to a temple.
